California SPIA Payouts This Week: Symetra Raises Its Quotes, Top Payouts Hold (October 26, 2026)

October 26, 2026 · Kevin Edwards, California-licensed annuity agent (License #0D42517)

California SPIA payouts held steady at the top this week. Of the four carriers I quote, only Symetra changed its numbers: it raised monthly income on a $100,000 single premium immediate annuity by about $7 to $18, depending on age and payout option. American National, Pacific Life and Securian Financial quoted exactly the same amounts as on October 19. Securian still has the best life-only income for a single man or woman at 65, 70 and 75, so the top quote for a 70-year-old man is unchanged at $749.67 a month.

Symetra’s increase moves it ahead of American National for a single man buying life-only income at every age. A 70-year-old man now gets $699.83 a month from Symetra versus $692.75 from American National, though both are still below Pacific Life and Securian. None of the best payouts changed: Securian leads every scenario except the 65-year-old couple, where Pacific Life still pays the most at $568.23 a month life only and $567.57 with 10 years certain.

$10,000 and $1,000,000 Quotes

I also re-ran the same scenarios at $10,000 and $1,000,000. Only Securian Financial quoted a $10,000 premium again; American National, Pacific Life and Symetra did not. Securian’s $10,000 quote for a 70-year-old man is $72.34 a month, about 3.5% less than a tenth of its $100,000 quote, so small premiums still buy a bit less income per dollar. All four carriers quoted $1,000,000. Symetra’s $1,000,000 quotes rose too (by about $24 to $144 a month), but Securian still had the best quote for a 70-year-old man at $7,523.03 a month, about 0.4% more than ten times the $100,000 figure. See how much a $10,000 annuity pays and how much a $1,000,000 annuity pays.

Coming Up

AnnuityRateWatch shows rate changes scheduled for Protective Life (Oct 27), Oceanview Life and Annuity (Oct 28), Ibexis (Oct 29), Symetra (Oct 30), Prudential (Nov 1) and The Standard (Nov 2). Symetra is the only one of these that quoted SPIAs for California this week, so its payouts could move again after October 30. I’ll show any change in next week’s update.

These are sample quotes, and a payout rate is not an interest rate: each payment includes part of your own premium coming back to you.
