Nassau Annuity Review

Last updated October 12, 2026. California rates are refreshed weekly; confirm today’s rate before you apply.

Nassau Life and Annuity Company stands out for simple pricing: its MYGAs pay the same rate from a $10,000 deposit. It also carries a lower financial strength rating than most carriers I review. I’m Kevin Edwards, an independent California annuity agent. Here’s how to weigh both.

Nassau’s Financial Strength

Nassau reports an AM Best financial strength rating of B++ (Good) with a stable outlook, from AM Best’s most recent action on February 27, 2026. B++ sits one notch below A- and is the lowest AM Best rating among the carriers I review. Nassau also lists ratings of BBB+ from Fitch, BBB- from S&P Global and BBB+ from KBRA.

What that means for you: a B++ rating is still in AM Best’s “Good” range, but many buyers and advisors use A- as a minimum. The question is whether Nassau pays enough extra to justify the lower rating, and this week it mostly doesn’t (see below).

My Take on Nassau

The honest read: Nassau’s flat $10,000 minimum is convenient, but its rates don’t beat higher-rated carriers this week. Oxford Life (A) pays more at 4, 6 and 7 years from $20,000, and at the $10,000 level Symetra Select Max 7 pays 5.90% and Reliance Standard’s Eleos MVA 5 pays 5.85%, both above Nassau’s 7- and 5-year rates.

What to watch:

  • The “0% Free” versions pay about 0.20% more because they allow no penalty-free withdrawals during the term. Pick the “10% Free” version if you may need access to some of the money.
  • Every Nassau MYGA and index annuity here carries a market value adjustment.
  • Nassau’s index annuity minimum caps are 0.50% to 0.75%, so renewal caps depend heavily on Nassau’s future pricing.
  • The Group C and Group D labels are product designations in the rate data; ask me which version you’re being quoted.
